Cookie Dough Hearts

Cookie Dough Hearts

The Best Valentine’s Day Dessert

If you’re looking for a super easy but festive Valentine’s Day treat, you must try these. The dough comes together in less than 10 minutes and requires no baking.

These cookie dough hearts are also made with healthier ingredients and can even make a perfect snack. You can add protein powder to make these a more satiating snack as well.

For the heart molds, I found mine on Amazon. There are tons on there or they sell them at stores like Tj Maxx or Target. Obviously, any molds will work they don’t need to be heart shaped. The silicone ones are the best as you don’t need to spray them and the dough comes out super easily.

Applesauce: I always use unsweetened applesauce. Ideally, you want the only ingredients to be water and apples. You can use sweetened applesauce; however, I find it to be sweet enough from the sugar and chocolate.

Almond butter: you can use any nut or seed butter of your choice. Be sure it is on the runnier side as compared to chunky.

Coconut sugar: I used coconut sugar in this recipe to keep it refined sugar free. However, any granulated sugar will work, for example, monk fruit or white sugar.

Almond flour: you can replace this with oat flour, more coconut flour, or protein powder. The measurements will be different so add slowly and stir as you go.

Chocolate chips: any chocolate will work. You could also do festive M&Ms.

Optional: sprinkles: any sprinkles will work.

Ingredients:

  • Applesauce

  • Almond butter

  • Coconut sugar

  • Almond flour

  • Coconut flour

  • Chocolate chips

  • Optional: sprinkles

Recipe:

  • ½ cup applesauce

  • 1/3 cup almond butter

  • 1/3 cup coconut sugar

  • 1 cup almond flour

  • 1/3 cup PLUS 2 tablespoons coconut flour

  • ½ cup chocolate chips for the dough

  • 1 cup chocolate chips for melting

Directions:

1.    In a bowl combine the applesauce, almond butter, and coconut sugar. Add in the almond flour and coconut flour.

2.    Stir until a dough is formed. Fold in the chocolate chips.

3.    Scoop about 1-3 tablespoons of the dough and transfer to the heart molds. The amount of dough you use will depend on the size of your molds.

4.    Repeat until all the dough is used. Transfer to the refrigerator. Allow to chill for 3-4 hours.

5.    When the dough is done chilling, melt the chocolate. Coat each heart in the chocolate. If you’re adding sprinkles, add them now. Place back in the refrigerator to allow the chocolate to harden then enjoy!

Be sure to store the hearts in the refrigerator in an airtight container. They should last up to one week. You can store them in the freezer to last longer.
