Double Chocolate Donuts

Rich Chocolatey Goodness

This is my first official donut recipe and it turned out so delicious! Donuts are definitely one of my favorite desserts. Especially, chocolate donuts.

These donuts are not fried so they are more of a cake donut. The texture is super fluffy. The best part is added the extra melted chocolate on top at the end, so delicious!

I got my donut pan on Amazon. They have countless options. I would recommend getting a silicone one. They are super easy to use, and you don’t have to worry about your donuts getting stuck in the pan.

This recipe is super versatile. You can basically add whatever you want to the batter. Sprinkles, Oreos, nuts, literally anything. I’m super excited to make these again and try some new variations!

These donuts store well in the freezer if you want to make them in advance. Since they are made with fresher ingredients, after a few days in the refrigerator they will start to not taste as good.

Coconut oil: Make sure you are using MELTED coconut oil. You can buy it melted or just melt in the microwave for 30 second increments. I wouldn’t recommend substituting this, but if you really wanted, butter should work.

Almond butter: any nut or seed butter will work. Just note, something like peanut butter has a very overpowering taste.

Almond milk: any nondairy milk will work in this recipe.

Cacao powder: if you don’t have cacao powder, cocoa powder will also work.

Sugar: I used coconut sugar to keep the recipe refined sugar free. Any sugar will work just make sure it is GRANULATED sugar.

I would not recommend substituting the almond flour or applesauce. For the chocolate chips you can use whichever brand you prefer! Note you are adding chocolate chips to the batter as well as melting them for topping after the donuts are done baking.

If you don’t want to top with melted chocolate, you could also top these with your favorite frosting, powdered sugar, or just keep plain!
