Chocolate Covered Cinnamon Protein Bites

Perfect On-The-Go Snack

My favorite recipes I ever make are ones that are no-bake, have protein, and are super easy to take when on-the-go. These bites fit all those categories. From start to finish these take no more than 15 minutes (minus the waiting time).

These are the perfect recipe to prep a large batch of in the beginning of the week and have as a snack all week. I love how these bites are very versatile. You can switch up the flavors each time you make them.

Some of my favorite combinations are:

Vanilla protein powder, pumpkin pie spice, coated in white chocolate.

Peanut butter protein powder, cinnamon, coated in chocolate.

Mixed berry protein powder, cinnamon, coated in white chocolate.

These bites have no added sugar besides from the chocolate. If you want these completely sugar-free use a sugar-free chocolate and be sure to use unsweetened applesauce. If you want them sweeter, use normal chocolate, sweetened applesauce, and you can add maple syrup or a sweetener of your choice.

Nut butter: any nut or seed butter will work. I would recommend ones that don’t have a super strong taste such as cashew butter, almond butter, or sunflower seed butter.

Protein: any protein powder will work. I used a cinnamon flavored one. If you use a cinnamon flavored one, I’d recommend adding a little less normal cinnamon.

Chocolate: any chocolate will work. If you don’t want to add the chocolate, you can also skip that part. White chocolate would also taste super delicious as well.

Cinnamon: if cinnamon isn’t your thing, you can skip this part or add in any spices. Pumpkin pie spice would be delicious as well.

I used unsweetened applesauce in this recipe. I don’t recommend substituting the applesauce. However, pumpkin puree may work.

TIP: when melting the chocolate add in 1-2 teaspoons of coconut oil. It helps the chocolate to melt a lot smoother and makes it easier to coat each ball in it.

Ingredients:

  • Nut butter

  • Applesauce

  • Protein

  • Cinnamon

  • Chocolate

Recipe:

  • ½ cup nut butter

  • 1/3 cup applesauce

  • ¼ cup protein powder (I used a cinnamon flavored one)

  • 1-2 teaspoon cinnamon (can do more or less depending on preference)

  • 1 cup chocolate

Directions:

1.    In a bowl combine the nut butter and applesauce.

2.    Once well combined, add in the protein and cinnamon.

3.    Stir until a dough is formed.

4.    Scoop the dough and roll all into balls.

5.    Place in the refrigerator for 30 minutes.

6.    After the 30 minutes coat in melted chocolate.

7.    Allow to harden in the refrigerator or freezer.

Be sure to store these in the refrigerator or freezer. They should last up to 5 days in the refrigerator. You can prep a large batch and store them in the freezer. They should last for a month minimum.
