There are very few recipes easier than this one. Everything is added into a bowl, added to the microwave and ready within 1 minute. If you're ever craving chocolate cake but don’t want to go through all the hassle of making a whole cake you have to try this.

This is a chocolate lover's dream. Double chocolate AND is ready in 1 minute. The whole recipe in total takes no more than 5 minutes. I love eating mine straight out of the microwave and adding a scoop of ice cream or whipped cream.

This combination is so delicious and tastes so decadent like it’s from a fancy restaurant. Not only is this so delicious but is made with all healthier ingredients. The mug cake is gluten-free, grain-free, and refined sugar-free.

Anytime I am craving something sweet I always go to this recipe. I have made this recipe for years. Everyone in my family loves this recipe and also makes it all the time. This recipe is also super versatile.

My favorite part about this recipe is being able to make different combinations within it. I have experimented and made a banana cream pie version, Oreo version, and m&m version. You can literally add in whatever you want and top the mug cake with whatever you want.

My go to choice of nut butter in recipes is always almond butter. In this recipe I would recommend almond butter, however, any nut butter will work. If you wanted to make a peanut butter chocolate mug cake substituting the almond butter for peanut butter would work super well.

If you don’t have cacao powder, cocoa powder works as well. I would not recommend substituting the flour.

If you are allergic to coconut or don’t have coconut sugar on hand, white sugar or brown sugar will work.

Ingredients

  • Almond flour

  • Cacao powder

  • Baking powder

  • Coconut sugar

  • Almond butter

  • Applesauce

  • Chocolate chips

Recipe

  • 2 tablespoons almond flour

  • 1 tablespoon cacao powder

  • ½ teaspoon baking powder

  • 1 tablespoon coconut sugar

  • 1 tablespoon almond butter

  • 2 tablespoon applesauce

  • 3-4 tablespoons chocolate chips

Directions

Makes 1 serving:

  1. In a mug or smaller bowl combine almond flour, cacao powder, and baking powder.

  2. Stir until combined.

  3. Add in the coconut sugar, almond butter, and applesauce.

  4. Stir until combined.

  5. Fold in the chocolate chips.

  6. Mix.

  7. Microwave for 1 minute.

  8. Enjoy!
