Chocolate Cake Bars
Rich Chocolatey Flavor
If you are a chocolate lover, this recipe is for you. These cake bars are loaded with chocolate and taste so decadent. You would never guess they are made with healthier and simple ingredients.
This recipe is made in one bowl, so you don’t have to worry about making a huge mess while making it. The worst part about baking is cleaning up, so that’s why this recipe is one of the go-to recipes.
When melting the chocolate on top, add a teaspoon of coconut oil to the bowl. This makes the chocolate super silky and easy to work with. Make sure to always melt your chocolate in 30 second increments so it doesn’t burn.
TIP: when cutting these bars use a plastic knife. This makes the cuts super clean, and you won’t end up with a lot of crumbly pieces.
Almond butter: you can use any nut or seed butter of your preference (sunflower, cashew, peanut, etc.)
Almond milk: any nondairy milk will work. I haven’t tested traditional milk; however, I assume it will also work.
Coconut oil: make sure your oil is MELTED. If you prefer to use butter, that should also work.
Sugar: any granulated sugar will work (brown, white, monk fruit, etc.) I used coconut sugar to keep it refined sugar free.
Cacao powder: you can also use cocoa powder instead.
Chocolate: any chocolate of your preference will work. You can also mix chocolates or use white chocolate.
Sprinkles: any sprinkles will work. You can also omit these or add something else like nuts or M&Ms.
I would not recommend substituting the applesauce or almond flour. While there are substitutes, the outcome will be different, and the taste will not be the same.
Instead of using melted chocolate on top, you can add traditional frosting. You could also eat these without anything added on top. They will taste just as delicious.
