Sugar Cookies with Valentine’s Day Sprinkles and Vanilla Frosting: A Sweet Treat for Every Celebration

Valentine’s Day is just around the corner, and what better way to spread the love than with a batch of homemade sugar cookies? These simple, soft, and chewy sugar cookies with Valentine’s Day sprinkles and a dollop of creamy vanilla frosting are the perfect treat for any occasion—whether you're celebrating with a special someone, gathering with friends for Galentine’s Day, or just treating yourself to something sweet.

One of the best parts about these cookies is how easy they are to make. With fewer than 10 ingredients, you can whip up a batch in no time, making them perfect for a last-minute treat or a fun afternoon baking project. They come together in just one bowl, so there’s minimal cleanup, and they bake in less than 10 minutes. What’s not to love?

The cookies themselves are the ideal balance of sweet and soft. When you bite into one, you’ll be greeted with a chewy, melt-in-your-mouth texture that will have you reaching for more. Despite being vegan, these sugar cookies are packed with flavor and moisture—you’d never guess they’re dairy-free! The dough comes together smoothly, and they hold their shape beautifully when baked, making them perfect for adding festive sprinkles on top.

For these cookies, I used store-bought vanilla frosting because it’s quick, easy, and delicious. However, you can definitely get creative with your frosting choice. Whether you prefer a tangy cream cheese frosting, a rich chocolate frosting, or even a dairy-free option, any frosting would pair beautifully with these cookies. The vanilla frosting is simple and sweet, letting the sugary cookie shine through while giving it a nice, creamy topping that complements the sprinkles perfectly.

Speaking of sprinkles, these cookies are topped with cute Valentine’s Day sprinkles—think hearts, pinks, reds, and whites, all ready to make your cookies extra festive. Whether you’re baking for your significant other, a Galentine’s Day party, or just indulging in some self-love (because you deserve it!), these cookies are bound to bring smiles to everyone who enjoys them.

Happy baking—and don’t forget to save one for yourself!

Sugar: any granulated sugar will work. I used white sugar in this recipe. Be sure it is granulated and not a liquid sweetener such as maple syrup.

Vegan butter: any vegan butter will work. You can also substitute for liquid oil. If you aren’t vegan normal butter works too.

Nondairy milk: I used unsweetened almond milk. Any nondairy milk will work. If you aren’t vegan normal milk works too.

Vanilla extract: if you don’t have this you can omit. Almond extract can also be used.

All-purpose flour: I haven’t tested any other flours. The closest option would be a 1:1 gluten-free flour.

Ingredients:

  • Sugar

  • Vegan butter

  • Nondairy milk

  • Vanilla extract

  • Baking powder

  • All-purpose flour

  • Sprinkles

  • Frosting

Recipe:

Makes about 8-10 cookies

  • 1/3 cup sugar

  • 3 tablespoons vegan butter

  • 2 tablespoons nondairy milk

  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

  • 2 teaspoons baking powder

  • 2/3 cup PLUS 3-4 tablespoons all-purpose flour

  • 1/3 cup sprinkles

Directions:

1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Line a cookie sheet with parchment paper or spray with cooking spray.

2.     In a bowl melt the butter. Add in the sugar, nondairy milk, and vanilla extract. Stir to combine.

3.    Add in the flour and baking powder. Stir until a dough is formed. Fold in sprinkles.

4.    Use a cookie scoop to scoop all the dough. Use your hands to roll into a ball. Once rolled press down slightly on the cookie sheet. Repeat until all dough is used. OPTIONAL: allow dough to chill in the refrigerator for an hour.

5.    Bake for 7-9 minutes. Allow to completely cool before frosting. Optional: add more sprinkles on top of frosting.
