Bananas: be sure your bananas are ripe as they are one of the main sources of sweetness in this recipe. If you don’t want to use bananas, you can use applesauce or mashed sweet potato.

Vanilla paste: I prefer this as compared to vanilla extract but either will work.

Maple syrup: you can substitute the maple syrup for any sweetener of choice.

Coconut flour: I like using coconut flour in this recipe as it is super absorbent. If you are looking to substitute this, you can do more almond flour or protein powder. Keep in mind the measurements will be different.

Almond flour: If you are looking to substitute the almond flour, you can do more coconut flour or protein powder. As mentioned above, the measurements will be different. I would recommend adding slowly and mixing as you go. Once you have a dough like texture you’re good to go.

Freeze dried strawberries: you can use any freeze dried fruit you would like.

Ingredients:

  • Bananas

  • Vanilla paste

  • Maple syrup

  • Coconut flour

  • Almond flour

  • Freeze dried strawberries

  • Powdered sugar

Recipe:

  • 2 bananas

  • 1 teaspoon vanilla paste

  • 3 tablespoons maple syrup

  • 5 tablespoons coconut flour

  • 1/4 cup almond flour

  • 1/3 cup freeze dried strawberries (crushed up)

Directions:

  1. In a medium sized bowl mash the bananas. Add in the vanilla and maple syrup. Stir to combine.

  2. Add in the coconut and almond flour. Stir until a dough forms. Fold in the freeze dried strawberries. Be sure they are crushed up as you don’t want chunks of them in the donut holes.

  3. Once your mixture is complete, use a cookie scoop to scoop the dough. Use your hands to form them into balls. Place on a plate or tray and put into the refrigerator. Allow to sit for at least 30 minutes.

  4. After the 30 minutes coat them in the powdered sugar mixture. About 1 cup powdered sugar, 3 tablespoons nondairy milk, and optional add about 1-3 tablespoons of crushed freeze dried strawberries.

  5. Allow everything to set in the refrigerator for about 1 hour then enjoy!

Store the donut holes in the refrigerator in an airtight container. They can also be stored in the freezer.
