Fudge Bites

Healthier, Simple, Delicious Dessert

These bites truly make the perfect healthier and simple dessert. The applesauce creates an ultra-fudgy texture that will satisfy any sweet tooth. The chocolate coating takes this recipe to the next level. I love adding sprinkles on top as well but that is optional.

You can also add in whatever you want to the base of this recipe. Sometimes, I add in chocolate chips, marshmallows, or nuts. The base can really be used for whatever flavors you want. I would love to hear any of the flavor ideas you come up with!

I noted in the substitutions section that the coconut flour can be replaced with protein powder. If you’re looking for higher protein snacks that is a great option for you. I would recommend using chocolate or vanilla protein powder.

Applesauce: I always use unsweetened applesauce. Ideally, you want the only ingredients to be water and apples. You can use sweetened applesauce; however, I find it to be sweet enough from the sugar and chocolate.

Nondairy milk: I used unsweetened almond milk in this recipe. Any nondairy milk will work. If you aren’t vegan, traditional milk works as well.

Sugar: I like to use coconut sugar as it is refined sugar free. Any granulated sugar will work in this recipe, for example, white sugar or monk fruit.

Jet black cocoa powder: if you don’t have this type of cocoa powder, normal cocoa or cacao powder will work. The jet black one gives off more of an Oreo flavor, so I like to use it in this recipe.

Coconut flour: I like using coconut flour to keep the recipe gluten and grain free. You could use protein powder in place of this or almond flour. Keep in mind the measurements WILL BE different. I recommend slowly adding and stirring until you reach a dough consistency.

Chocolate: any chocolate will work.

Optional: sprinkles: any sprinkles will work. You can also leave these as is or top with whatever you want.

Ingredients:

  • Applesauce

  • Nondairy milk

  • Sugar

  • Jet black cocoa powder

  • Coconut flour

  • Chocolate

  • Optional: sprinkles

Recipe:

  • 1/3 cup applesauce

  • ¼ cup sugar

  • ¼ cup jet black cocoa powder

  • ½ cup coconut flour

  • 1 cup chocolate chips

Directions:

1.    In a bowl combine the applesauce, nondairy milk, and sugar. Add in the cocoa powder and coconut flour. Stir until a dough is formed.

2.    Using a cookie scoop or spoon, scoop the dough onto a plate. Repeat until all the dough is used. Place in the refrigerator for an hour.

3.    After the hour, melt the chocolate and coat each bite into the chocolate. Optional: top with sprinkles.

Store the bites in an airtight container in the refrigerator. They should last up to one week. They can be stored in the freezer to last longer. Feel free to reach out with any questions!
