Oreo Birthday Cake Cookies

You Would Never Know These Are Vegan!

I have seen these Oreo sprinkle cookies countless times online from Crumbl Cookies and different remakes. I have always wanted to try them and finally decided to make a copy-cat vegan version.

If you have never seen these cookies, it is a dark colored cookie that’s supposed to look like the cookie part of an Oreo, with vanilla frosting, sprinkles, and chunks of cookie dough on top. I think these copy-cat ones turned out pretty similar to the original and taste so delicious.

The recipe comes together in 5 minutes and only takes 7 minutes to bake. I love this recipe because it’s a small batch recipe and you can cure your cookie craving without having to make a whole batch. This also only requires one bowl so it’s a super easy clean up.

Vegan butter: any vegan butter will work. Be sure it is MELTED. Oil should also work; however, the butter will taste better in my opinion. If you aren’t dairy-free/vegan traditional butter should also work.

Sugar: any granulated sugar will work (brown, white, coconut, etc.) Be SURE it is granulated and not a liquid sweetener.

Jet black cocoa powder: this type of cocoa powder is a super dark colored one and almost gives off the taste of an Oreo. You can order this off Amazon. If you don’t have this type of cocoa powder a normal one will work also and still taste just as good.

Chocolate chips: any chocolate chips of your preference will work. You can also chop a chocolate bar and mix different chocolates.

Frosting: I used store-bought vanilla frosting. You can use homemade or use whatever frosting you want. There are countless vegan frosting recipes online and many store-bought ones are vegan.

Sprinkles: any sprinkles will work.

Ingredients:

  • Vegan butter

  • Applesauce

  • Sugar

  • Baking powder

  • Almond flour

  • Jet black cocoa powder

  • Chocolate chips

  • Frosting

  • Sprinkles

Recipe:

Makes TWO large cookies.

Double the recipe to make about six normal sized cookies

  • 1 tablespoon vegan butter (MELTED)

  • 2 tablespoons sugar

  • 1 tablespoon applesauce

  • ½ teaspoon baking powder

  • 9 tablespoons almond flour

  • 2 tablespoons jet black cocoa powder

  • Optional: 4 tablespoons chocolate chips

The dough bites are optional. If you want them, just make a little extra of the dough from the original recipe and omit the baking powder and chocolate chips.

Directions:

1.    Preheat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.

2.    Line a cookie sheet with parchment paper or spray with cooking spray.

3.    In a bowl melt the butter.

4.    Once melted, add in the applesauce and sugar.

5.    Stir well to combine.

6.    Add in the baking powder, almond flour, and jet-black cocoa powder.

7.    Stir until a dough is formed.

8.    Fold in the chocolate chips.

9.    Scoop the dough onto the tray and press flat.

10. Bake for 7 minutes.

11. Once cooled, add your frosting, sprinkles, and dough bites.

Store these in the refrigerator in an airtight container. They should last up to 5 days.
