Peanut Butter Chocolate Candy Bars
Perfect Vegan Candy Recipe!
Ever since going vegan, I’ve definitely felt left out not being able to eat Halloween candy. So, I decided to make it myself! These bars are completely allergen friendly and still taste just as delicious.
If peanut butter and chocolate isn’t your favorite combination, don’t worry I have tons more copy-cat Halloween recipes coming. These types of recipes are my absolute favorite to make. I love showing people just because you are vegan you can still enjoy candy and participate in Halloween.
If you are someone who doesn’t have allergies but just wants a healthier alternative to Halloween candy this recipe is for you! There is no shame in eating the “real” thing, however, if you are looking for a healthier option these bars are only made with three ingredients as compared to the traditional ones with countless ingredients.
I only used the protein powder and peanut butter for the filling. You could add a sweetener to this if you would like. You could also add crushed nuts. This recipe is super versatile and really you can customize it any way!
If you put your own twist to this recipe, I’d love to hear the combination you did and how you liked it. Nothing makes me happier than when I see others trying my recipes!
Peanut butter: any nut or seed butter can be used (sunflower, cashew, almond, etc.)
Protein powder: if you don’t want to use protein powder you can use coconut flour, almond flour, or oat flour. The measurements WILL BE different.
Chocolate: any chocolate will work. You could also use white chocolate.
TIP: when melting the chocolate add ½-1 teaspoon of coconut oil. This helps the chocolate get extra smooth and is a lot easier to coat the bars in.
Ingredients:
Peanut butter (or any nut/seed butter)
Protein powder
Water
Chocolate
Recipe:
½ cup peanut butter (or any nut/seed butter)
½ cup protein powder (I used vanilla)
2-4 tablespoons water (ONLY if the dough is too crumbly)
1 cup chocolate
Directions:
1. In a bowl add the peanut butter and protein powder. Stir to combine. Add the water if necessary.
2. Shape the dough into bars and place on a plate. Once all the dough is used, place in the freezer for an hour to harden.
3. After the hour, melt the chocolate and coat each bar in the chocolate. Place back in the freezer to allow the chocolate to harden.
4. Optional: Top with festive sprinkles for any holiday!
Be sure to store the bars in the refrigerator or freezer. The bars should last up to 5 days in the refrigerator. You can prep a large batch and store in the freezer. It should last for a month minimum. I prefer storing mine in the freezer for an ice cream bar type dessert.
